Szymon Drobniak (born 1984) is an evolutionary biologist, ornithologist, graphic designer, poet, and translator of English-language popular science literature. He has conducted research at the universities of Zurich and Uppsala. He is currently employed at the Jagiellonian University and collaborates with the University of New South Wales in Sydney. He studies the evolution of birds, the plasticity of organisms in response to climate change, and the biological significance of color and color vision. He is the author of books for adults and children, including the reportages “Black Summer: Australia is Burning” and “Geese Resting on Gotland.” He regularly contributes to “Tygodnik Powszechny” and “Przekrój,” and his work has also been published in “Gazeta Wyborcza,” “Polityka,” and “Kukbuk.” He is a committed popularizer of science and its connections with art.
