Bogusław Pawłowski

Prof. Boguslaw Pawlowski, Ph.D., is head of the Department of Human Biology University of Wroclaw. He is interested in human evolution, but his current research is interdisciplinary in nature and concerns the intersection of biological sciences and psychology. For example, he deals with the biological basis of human behavior and preferences, and in particular with the signaling significance of traits perceived as attractive. He has authored more than 100 publications in prestigious scientific journals. Under his editorship was published a monograph entitled. “Biology of Human Attraction” (WUW). He is co-author of the book Human Minds and Animal Stories: How Narratives Make Us Care About Other Species. Co-founder and, since 2013, President of the Polish Society for the Study of Man and Evolution (PTNCE). Member of the Committee on Organismal Biology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. From 2020 to 2023 President of EHBEA (European Human Behaviour & Evolution Association). From 2021 to 2024 Vice President of the Council of the University of Wroclaw. In the national competition of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and PAP Science, he received the main award “Popularizer of Science 2016”. 2016 also saw the publication of a popular science book (B. Pawlowski & T. Ulanowski) entitled The Naked Mind. Why we are what we are. Human nature without illusions (Agora). Fellow of NATO and the Royal Society at the University of Liverpool (1997/98). Visiting professor at several foreign research institutions (Italy, Brazil, UK, Mexico, Czech Republic) and at the University of Warsaw.
