Alicja Józkowicz is a professor of biological sciences at the Jagiellonian University. She received her MSc (1991) and PhD (1997) from the same institution and completed postdoctoral fellowships at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and at the Medical University of Vienna.
Her research focuses on endothelial cell biology, particularly in the bone marrow niche, and heme metabolism (with publications cited over 14,000 times).
She has had the privilege of working with an excellent team, without whom her research would not have been possible. Her work has been funded primarily by grants from the Polish National Science Centre and the Wellcome Trust. She has extensive experience as a panel member and reviewer for many national and international funding agencies, including the ERC, and has been actively involved in CoARA and its Polish National Chapter in recent years
