Museum of Engineering and Technology in Krakow – Main Stage (Hall F)

Św. Wawrzyńca 15, 31-060 Kraków

A century ago, the existence of other galaxies and the expansion of the Universe were discovered—and in 1998, that expansion was accelerating. Since then, cosmology has developed through a close collaboration of theory and observation, leading to the Lambda-CDM model with its mysterious ingredients: dark matter and energy. Professor Peiris from the University of Cambridge will discuss her journey through this dynamic field of research and how laboratory experiments are helping to test new ideas in fundamental physics. The Lecture section is sponsored by the City of Krakow.
