Michal Wierzchon – cognitive psychologist, cognitive scientist, professor of social sciences, director of the Institute of Psychology at the Jagiellonian University and head of the Consciousness Lab. For years, he has been conducting research on consciousness from a cognitive perspective, combining the methods of experimental psychology, neuroscience, philosophy of mind and computer simulations. His work focuses on the study of conscious perception, self-awareness and memory, as well as the development of tools for measuring subjective experience.
He is the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications and two monographs, and is the recipient of an NCN Award and fellowships from the Foundation for Polish Science and the Polityka Weekly. He has held positions in international scientific societies, including the European Society for Cognitive Psychology and the Association for the Scientific Study of Consciousness. He initiated the establishment of the Center for Brain Research at the Jagiellonian University and directs international research projects funded by NCN and the EU. He actively participates in shaping scientific and academic policy in Poland.
