Joel Pearson

Professor of cognitive neuroscience at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney. A graduate of UNSW’s College of Fine Arts and Psychology at Macquarie University, he received his PhD from the University of Sydney. He has authored and co-authored over 130 articles published in some of the world’s most prestigious neuroscience and psychology journals such as Nature Reviews Neuroscience, Trends in Cognitive Sciences, Cortex, Journal of Vision, Psychological Science and Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience. He is the founder and director of the Future Minds Lab, an interdisciplinary research and development unit at UNSW that aims to develop effective strategies for using knowledge about the mind, brain and behaviour to operate efficiently in a rapidly changing world. Prof Pearson’s research focuses on human, consciousness, intuition and imagination. He has researched the latter, among others, in close collaboration with Prof Stephen Kosslyn.
