January Weiner I

Ecologist and evolutionary biologist from the Institute of Environmental Sciences at Jagiellonian University. Professor Emeritus at the Institute of Environmental Sciences at Jagiellonian University, a full member of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and an active member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences. He graduated in biology from Jagiellonian University. His research interests include physiological ecology, bioenergetics, ecosystem ecology, biogeochemistry and evolutionary biology. He has held several extended internships abroad (including at the University of Wisconsin and the University of Iowa, USA, and Philipps-Universität in Marburg, Germany – as a Humboldt Foundation Fellow). He is the author or co-author of about 50 original publications in international journals and about 200 contributions, review and popular science articles and books, including a textbook on ecology (1999, 2003, 2020).
