Alicja Okrasinska

He is working on the relationship between Mucoromycota fungi and their bacterial endosymbionts, studying the factors affecting their presence and diversity, and the role of these bacteria in host biology and adaptation. She is currently working on the NCN Prelude project “Together or apart – how do endosymbiont bacteria influence the biology and adaptation of their fungal host?”. Previously, she directed research in the NCN OPUS 13 grant on the effects of soil contaminants on Mucoromycota and their endosymbionts and participated in the DSM project on endophytic Mucoromycota in primary terrestrial plants and algae, and co-authored the monograph “Protected Fungi of Poland” (Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education). She improved her workshop during internships at the Bonito Lab at Michigan State University (NAWA, 2019-2020) and at the Institute of Dendrology of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Kórnik (POWER, 2016). She is a member of the Polish Mycological Society.
