Duo of improvisers – art of adaptation
Spontaneous, collective improvisation of music is the art of adaptation, both to the actions of the partners from the band as well as to the acoustic (and not only) conditions characteristic of the specific place where the concert takes place. Music emerged on this creative path is a resultant of personality, conditions and ability to cooperate. It is integrally associated with the time, place and circumstances of a particular concert, so it is unique and one of a kind. Thus understood, spontaneous improvisation seems to be the most natural way of creation, showing that creative potential can be distilled from all circumstances. This is possible, mainly due to the adaptive abilities that must characterize musicians-improvisers. One can say, paraphrasing the ancient Chinese sage, that “the path of the improviser is to cooperate, not to compete.”
