Professor Leszek Kaczmarek’s team from the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology, Polish Academy of Sciences, studies the connection between the brain and the mind at all levels of its organization—from the molecular, through the cellular and network, to behavior—in both health and disease. In his lecture, Professor Kaczmarek will discuss the latest advances and directions in research on the molecular basis of mind function, such as the discovery of the role of the MMP-9 enzyme in neuronal and synaptic plasticity, as well as learning, memory, and the development of many disorders.
