What do social relationships look like in the world of primates? Do monkeys have a personality, a sense of grief, and perhaps even empathy? How are they affected by human presence and a changing environment?
Małgorzata Arlet, an evolutionary biologist and primate behaviour researcher, has conducted field research in India and other parts of Asia for many years, studying the social structures, family relationships and emotional lives of monkeys. She will talk about how observing our closest relatives in the evolutionary tree helps us to better understand not only animals, but also ourselves.
