Joseph LeDoux

American neuroscientist, author of many articles and books such as Emotional Brain, Synaptic self and Anxiety. Head of the Center for Neural Science at New York University. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Karl Spencer Lashley Award from the American Philosophical Society, the International Fyssen Prize in Cognitive Science, the Jean Louis Signoret Award from the IPSEN Foundation, the Santiago Grisolia Award and the American Psychological Association’s Award for Outstanding Scientific Achievement. He is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the New York Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the National Academy of Sciences. Professor LeDoux is also an active musician – as a member of the band The Amygdaloids, he serves as vocalist and composer in the band.
