Scientist, virologist, professor, project manager, consultant, scientific team leader. Professor Krzysztof Pyrć specialises in virology, with particular emphasis on the mechanisms and pathology of infection and the development of new therapeutic strategies for human and animal viral infections. Creator and Head of Virology Laboratory at the Jagiellonian University Biotechnology Centre. Leader of the Virogenetics research group, supervisor and promoter of students and PhD students. Author of more than 140 publications in journals such as Nature Medicine, Science Translational Medicine, Nucleic Acids Research or PNAS, which have been cited more than 12,000 times (h=50) in the world literature. Reviewer and expert at science funding institutions in Poland and internationally. Author of dozens of patent applications and patents, on the basis of which 2 spin-off companies have already been established. Winner of numerous awards and distinctions. Author, manager and coordinator of numerous national and international research grants, as well as projects financed by commercial entities. He currently acts as an advisor at the level of the European Commission and the Ministry of Health, and in the past he has advised at the level of local authorities, the Ministry of Science, the Prime Minister and the President of the Republic of Poland.
