Majewski Artur i Mazur Rafał
Artur Majewski, born in 1978 is Polish trumpeter and improviser. Best known for his work with groups ROBOTOBIBOK and MIKROKOLEKTYW (duo with drummer Kuba Suchar). He performs regulary or ocasionally with groups EXPLODING STAR ORCHESTRA, JOSHUA ABRAMS NATURAL INFORMATION SOCIETY, FOTON QUARTET, MAZUR/MAJEWSKI DUO and SOLO, and musicians: Fred Anderson, Rob Mazurek, Nicole Mitchell, Josh Abrams, Mike Reed, Chad Taylor, Noel Kupersmith, Matt Lux, Jason Adasiewicz, Mat Bauder, Jason Ajemian, Noritaka Tanaka, Nate McBride, John Herndon, Tim Mulvenna, Harrison Bankhead, Edward Wilkerson Jr., Jim Baker, Steve Hunt, Mauricio Takara, Richard Ribeiro, Noel Akchote, Zlatko Kaucic, Tomaz Grom, Lotte Anker, Kazuhisa Uchihashi, Satoko Fuji, Kuba Suchar, Rafal Mazur, Anna Kaluza, Patryk Zakrocki, Gerard Lebik and Michał Biela among others. Toured and performed in Europe, USA, Japan and Israel. Have released more than 15 albums for Delmark Records, Clean Feed, NotTwo, Bołt Records and Vytvornia OM labels.
Rafał Mazur – musician and philosopher, was born 1971 in Kraków.
Mazur is a co-founder of the Institute of Intuition, studio dedicated to intuitive improvisations in Kraków. He has performed jazz and improvised music in clubs and festivals across Europe as well as in China, South Korea and Israel. Recently he has collaborated with Agustí Fernández, Liudas Mockunas, Martin Küchen, Artur Majewski, Peter Ole Jørgensen, Mikołaj Trzaska, Zlatko Kaucic, Lotte Anker, Lisa Ullen, Frederic Blondy, Charlotta Hug, Raymond Strid, Keir Neuringer, François Carrier, Michel Lambert and others. He released Cds in most of important free jazz and free improvisation as Clean Feed, No Business Records, Relative Pitch, Fundacja Słuchaj and FMR Records but his main label is Not Two Records.Mazur’s main field of interest and activity is collective and solo free improvisation. He regards Daoism as a strong base for the enrichment of the improviser’s attitude. He us founder of Dao of Improvisation – workshop of spontaneous improvisation based od daoistic strategy of action in unexpected situations. He is also academic philosopher and his main fields are philosophy of improvisation, Chinese daoistic philosophy, evolutionary aesthetics and naturalistic philosophy of art.
